Aeroméxico Infant Policy: Fees, Seating, and Baggage Allowance

Traveling with an infant on Aeroméxico requires understanding the airline's specific policies regarding fees, seating, and baggage allowances to ensure a smooth journey. Here's a detailed overview:

Age Definition and Documentation

Aeroméxico classifies passengers between six days and two years old as infants. Infants younger than six days are not permitted to travel. To verify your baby's age, you must present a birth certificate or passport during the booking process and at check-in.

Fees for Infant Travel

Infants traveling on an adult's lap are subject to specific charges, which vary depending on the route:

  • Domestic Flights within Mexico: A fee of 350 MXN plus tax per segment applies.

  • Flights to/from the United States: A fee of 35 USD plus tax per segment applies.

  • Flights to/from South America, Europe, and Asia: The charge is 10% of the adult fare plus tax.

Additionally, a service fee of 115 MXN or 15 USD will be assessed.

If your child turns two years old during the trip, you must purchase a ticket for any flight on which the infant will be over two years old.

Seating Arrangements

Each adult passenger is allowed to travel with one infant on their lap. If you are traveling with more than one infant, you must purchase an additional seat and provide an approved child restraint device (car seat) for the second child. The car seat must be forward-facing, certified according to federal or local authorities, and free from damage. It should have a full harness securing the lap, torso, and shoulders, and be fastened to the aircraft seat by a two-point harness.

Infants are not permitted to occupy seats in exit rows, nor in the rows directly in front of or behind an exit.

Baggage Allowance

Passengers travelling with an infant may bring up to two additional items at no extra charge, such as a baby stroller, bassinet, or diaper bag. On international flights, in addition to one stroller, bassinet, or baby carrier, an extra piece of luggage up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and 115 cm (45 inches) is permitted at no extra charge when travelling with an infant.

Infant Amenities

Aeroméxico offers a limited number of cribs (bassinets) on certain aircraft. To qualify, you must purchase an AM Plus seat. Cribs are available upon request and subject to availability for infants weighing no more than 24 lbs. Availability will be confirmed during the check-in process. During takeoff and landing, you are required to hold your infant on your lap.

Additional Considerations

  • Medical Needs: If your infant has specific medical requirements, such as needing an incubator or stretcher, a medical certificate may be necessary. It's advisable to contact Aeroméxico in advance to make appropriate arrangements.

  • International Travel: Ensure you have all necessary travel documents for your infant, including a valid passport and any required visas. Some destinations may have additional entry requirements for infants.
